Wanderers,
If you are inclined, please take this survey. It has been clarified that a "race" for this is:
This has to do with cycling safety and riders (specifically avid enthusiasts). You qualify under the loose definition of a racer if you've taken part in a ride that has a start and a finish and you have to sign up for. You do not need a license or any credentials. Jim asked. We were emailed directly as a board member of the Wanderers from a fella at Johns Hopkins U who is an avid cyclist himself.
His introductory email is below.
On a different note, thanks to everyone who attended the party last week!
My best!
Jessica
Dear Michael, Jessica, Jim, and Joyce,
Apologies for the cold email! I’m a medical student at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and an avid cyclist. I am currently working on a large research project investigating risk
factors for accidents and injuries among amateur competitive cyclists, and I am hoping you will share this study with your teammates.
We are surveying cyclists across all disciplines and experience levels to better understand how training habits, race categories, and racing experience influence injury risk. Insights from this study will help educate
riders, inform race safety practices, and guide future injury-prevention efforts in competitive cycling.
If possible, I’d be extremely grateful if you could share this short survey with members of your organization.
Participation is open to any rider who is over 18 years old and has raced at least once in the past 12 months, and the survey takes less
than 5 minutes to complete:

I’ve also attached a flyer summary if you’d like to forward it directly to your team members.
Thank you so much for helping advance research that aims to make our sport safer and more accessible for everyone. Feel free to reach out with any questions about the survey or the research more generally.
Best regards,
